Feast on Fresh Abalone: Healthy, Delicious Meals at Jeju Choga’s Cozy Seaside Spot!

Jeju Choga Restaurant at 189 Hwasunhaean-ro, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo offers a healthy and delicious taste of Jeju’s coastal cuisine. Famous for its Jeju Octopus Abalone Seafood Hot Pot and Tuna Sashimi, this spot is perfect for families seeking wholesome meals. During my visit, I ordered the Jeju Live Abalone Seafood Hot Pot, and I’m excited to share my review of the food and experience at this traditional-style restaurant.

Restaurant Introduction and Location

Jeju Choga is located in the peaceful seaside area of Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, along the scenic Hwasun Coast Road. The restaurant is housed in a charming traditional-style building, reminiscent of old Jeju houses, which adds to its cozy and authentic atmosphere. As you walk in, you immediately feel the laid-back vibe of this hidden gem by the sea.

The interior is simple and welcoming, making it an ideal place for families to enjoy a hearty meal together. One of the most impressive features of Jeju Choga is that they don’t use any artificial seasoning, which makes it a great choice for those looking for healthier meal options. Plus, the restaurant’s location by the sea makes it an ideal spot for relaxing after a coastal drive.

Jeju Live Abalone Seafood Hot Pot Review

The Jeju Live Abalone Seafood Hot Pot was an absolute feast! The dish came with 12 large abalone, and the portion size was extremely generous. Each abalone was plump and tender, perfectly cooked to retain its natural flavor and texture. The hot pot was packed with fresh seafood, and every bite was filled with the taste of the ocean.

The broth was light and clean, which is no surprise given the restaurant’s commitment to using no artificial seasoning. The natural flavors of the seafood were allowed to shine, and the combination of the abalone, shellfish, and various seafood made for a delicious and satisfying meal. Initially, the broth may taste a bit bland for those accustomed to heavily seasoned food, but as you continue eating, the subtle flavors really come through, making it a perfect dish for anyone looking for something light and wholesome.

The abalone itself was soft yet firm, with a chewy texture that seafood lovers will appreciate. The hot pot also contained a variety of other fresh seafood, and the overall experience felt indulgent yet healthy. It’s definitely a dish I’d recommend for families, especially if you’re looking for a meal that’s both satisfying and nutritious.

Being located right by the sea, Jeju Choga offers diners beautiful ocean views, which adds to the overall dining experience. The natural light that pours in through the windows creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The simplicity of the space makes it a great spot for family meals, and it’s easy to imagine coming here with your parents or kids to enjoy a quiet, satisfying lunch or dinner.

Cons of the Restaurant

  1. Might Be Too Mild for Some: If you’re used to heavily seasoned or salty dishes, the food at Jeju Choga might feel a bit under-seasoned. However, for those who enjoy more natural and subtle flavors, it’s a perfect fit.
